In preferences, in 'all' view, in input and codecs, in ffmpeg, in 'threads'.

Multithreading available in selected codecs, popularly x264 and mpeg4.

Thanks, it looks like vlc was already multithreading with threads set
to zero (auto). I'm still having performance trouble which I'll start
a new thread about.
