[vlc] Problem with subtitles while re-streaming+transcoding

Hi all,
I have following setup:
- hdhomerun (tech verion) takes un-encrypted US cable-tv signal
- hdhomerun multicasts without transcoding (it can't transcode anyway)
(subtitles work - shows choice of cc channels in vlc)
- vlc picks up the multicast and muticasts it out
- without vlc transcoding, subs work fine, with transcoding - they don't

Anyone dealt with US cable tv CCs in similar setup? What to do?
