This is Debian and vlc-pulseaudio-plugin got removed but these errors
happen when pulseaudio-plugin is installed too. Finally, linux can work
perfectly well not only without $DISPLAY being set, it can work perfectly
well without a mouse or monitor attached to a computer. I have neither
attached nor do I have any eye candy on this machine. One of these days I
figure to write a proper vlc configuration file and direct vlc at dummy
for display. I hope that doesn't break all of the internal commands I can
use while playing media with vlc though.
