My recorded clips are saved in Videos as ----
vlc-record-2014-06-09-19h38m28s- *Name*. Where do I find this in
Preferences to Edit this title .. to shorten it ??.

Dave,

I've always just clicked on the file name twice, DON'T double-click, and
change the name that way. The whole file name becomes highlighted and
you're able to change it. Hope that helps.
